Hospital Projects

Hood River Hospital

What started simply as a parking lot redesign, associated with relocation of the entrance to the hospital from the west side of the facility, became much more complex. A publicly owned sanitary system was transitioning through the middle of the hospital. It was determined the sanitary system needed to be relocated while keeping the hospital fully operational. Public street improvements for the City of Hood River were also designed which included sidewalks, storm system and catch basins. Additionally coordination with ODOT was necessary for the design and construction of an Ultra-Block retaining wall as well as the public portion of the storm system within their right-of-way.

Tukwila Center

Don Cushing Associates provided designs for grading, storm, and sanitary systems in a quasi-design/build environment for the Tukwila Center for Health and Medicine associated with the Women’s Health Care Center of Silverton Hospital. This project was completed during the summer of 2001 in conjunction with Clark/Kjos Architects and the developer.

Allenmore Hospital

Working in conjunction with MultiCare, the owner, Don Cushing Associates designed a 190-space parking lot for the Allenmore Hospital in Tacoma, Washington. The project included retaining walls and underground water quality designs. The project required coordination with the City of Tacoma Engineering Department and the Planning Department.

Tacoma General Hospital

Working with Giffin Bolte Jurgens Architects, Don Cushing Associates provided a storm water quality system and a redesign of the sanitary system for the Tacoma General Hospital J Street Parking Garage. This project was coordinated with the City of Tacoma and the architect.

Tuality Hospital

Don Cushing Associates created the civil engineering plan for Tuality Community Hospital’s new 5-story medical office building located in Hillsboro, Oregon. The project was completed in the winter of 2003. The building, which is part of the hospital’s master plan, included a helistop. The project required a water quality treatment for both the parking lot and the building. Don Cushing Associates was involved in a quasi-design/build with the architect, Clark/Kjos Architects, and the contractor.
